Privacy Policy

CUT turns the last 7 days of your camera roll into a short cinematic trailer, every week. This policy describes what CUT reads, what leaves your phone (almost nothing), and the choices you have.
- CUT reads only the last 7 days of your photo library. Never the whole roll.
- Your trailer is cut entirely on your device. Your photos and videos are never uploaded.
- Nothing is posted unless you share it yourself, through the system share sheet.
- We do not train foundation models or any other machine-learning systems on your photos.
What CUT accesses
Photos and videos (with your permission). CUT asks for photo-library access to find the shots that make up your week. Access is limited to the most recent 7 days by the app's design. Rendering happens locally in CUT's on-device engine; the resulting video is saved to your library only when you choose to save or share it.
Sign in with Apple. CUT uses Sign in with Apple to mark the app as yours on this device. Your sign-in state is stored locally. CUT operates no account servers and receives no profile data beyond what Apple provides to the app on-device.
Notifications. With your permission, CUT schedules one local reminder (Sundays at 9:00) on your device. It is created and fired locally; no push service is involved.
What leaves your device
Product analytics. CUT uses Newly's first-party analytics to understand how the app is used — for example, that a trailer was created or the paywall was opened. These events carry no photos, no video, and no photo metadata, are not used for advertising, and are not shared with data brokers. Analytics are not used to track you across other apps or websites.
Purchases. If you buy CUT Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store's billing system. CUT receives only your entitlement status (whether Pro is active) — never your payment details.
Data we do not collect
- Your photo library, in whole or in part
- Location data embedded in your photos
- Contacts, messages, browsing history, or advertising identifiers
- Any data for the purpose of tracking you across apps or websites
Your choices
- Photo access can be changed or revoked at any time in iOS Settings. CUT degrades gracefully without it.
- Delete this week removes the current cut and its source picks from the device.
- Delete account erases your sign-in, every cut, and every setting from the device, permanently.
- Notifications can be toggled in CUT's settings or in iOS Settings.
Children
CUT is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will replace this page and the effective date will move. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
